Julie Ryan has been chosen to represent Ireland in the Under 12s in the 4 Nations Quadrangular tournament which is being held in Cardiff the weekend of the 11^th and 12^th of September 2010. The coach for the Irish team is Stephen O’Shea. Good luck to Julie and Stephen. It is a great achievement.

Monkstown LTC Golf Outing 13th August 2010

A super day was had by all 41 golfers who played. The course was kind to all and a lovely dinner was enjoyed after the golf. There was a prize for “everyone in the audience” – but the beautiful perpetual trophy went to John Byrne, Liam Manahan, John O’Shea and Johnny O’Shea. The ‘longest drive’ was won by Mark Smyth and ‘nearest to the pin’ was won by Dave Keane.

Same time, same place next year!

Well done to Jack Crossan who was on the winning Under 14 Leinster team in the Inter Pros which took place in Galway recently.

Well done to Caroline Grace who was chosen by the DLTC to play in the Duff Cup. This is an annual match between Belfast and the DLTC which started in 1902. Caroline, who also captained the team, was chosen because of her winning record in the summer league this year. Caroline and her team won the Duff Cup for Dublin.

Congratulations to Adrienne Cusack who got to the final of the Class 2/3 Singles in the Co. Wicklow Lawn Tennis Club Open on Saturday 14^th August 2010.

Kennelly Tournament

Thank you to Susie and Ciaran Kennelly who have run this tournament almost every year since 1985. It was held on Monday2nd August 2010.

The Kennelly family were there in force yet again. 40 players competed and had a very enjoyable time.

The two winning partnerships were:

There were plenty of prizes for various categories followed by Susie’s delicious cooking. €400 will be donated to the Irish Heart Foundation.

Monday 19th July 2010: Senior Handicaps and Junior Championships

The Senior Handicap Tournament takes place from Monday 19^th July 2010 until Saturday 31^st July 2010. Matches will be played each evening and therefore courts may not be booked in the evenings during these two weeks.

Please note that the Junior Championships start on Monday 19^th July 2010. Finals Day will be Saturday 24th July 2010. Matches will be played from 10 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. and from 2.00 to 5.30. There will usually be at least one or two courts still available for ordinary play during the course of these Championships.
