Leinster Junior & Primary Schools League

Having got to the final of the Division 1 Primary Schools Tennis League, we knew we were up against tough opponents in St. Mary’s, but our Hollypark team battled hard to win on the day.  We were all looking forward to the matches, delighted to have made it to the final in Lansdowne.  Our No.1 team Harry Crossan and Gary Galvin (both Monkstown LTC) won their match 6-4 7-5 after saving 3 set points.  After myself and my partner won our match 6-2 7-6 and 7-1 in the tiebreak, St. Mary’s conceded defeat to our No. 2s – their score being 6-7 6-3 and 5-4 in the tiebreak, we knew that we had won!

We also met Rosie McFadyen another Monkstown LTC junior who reached the final playing for her school St Andrews College.

Afterwards, we were presented with our medals by Ann O’Connor, president of Tennis Ireland and the next day brought the cup into school to show it off.

Finally, we would like to thank Anne Crossan for all the work she did in putting the teams together and organising the matches.
