2011 Templeogue U12 Day Cup

Saturday, October 15th was a fantastic day for Monkstown LTC Under 12s  players in the Templeogue Day Cup.

David Cullen and Rachel Hartnett played mixed, Harry Crossan and Mark Earle played together with Grace Mary Doyle and Siofra Watson making up the rest of the team. In a Round Robin format each team played 3 other teams. We played Naas, Templeogue 2 and Newtown Park. We came out top of our group.

Then, it was time for the food. They gave us lots of chicken goujons, cocktail sausage, apple pie, rice crispy buns and chocolate fudge cake. It was delicious. I saw our mums and dads tucking in too!

Some teams left but we had a semi final to play…against Lansdowne. We played very well and got into the finals. By now, the rain was lashing and we had our toughest opponents yet….Templeogue 1.  Everyone played their hardest for the team and it really paid off because we won…. by just one game. The mixed finished first with a 6-1 win, then the girls finished with a 2-5 loss so it all came down to the boys. And they came up trumps by winning three games!!! The final score was 11:10.

So Monkstown LTC gets the U/12 Templeogue Day Cup for the second year in a row. We each got a nice plaque and the Club got a shield to keep.

In his speech, our captain, David Cullen thanked the Templeogue players and the Templeogue organisers for a great day and lovely food.   We got great support from our parents and Stephen came too. Thanks to Templeogue for inviting us and giving us a really great time.
