Mens Summer League Round 4

The 1st team were not in action over the weekend, they face Clontarf 1 away on Wednesday evening.

The 2nd team lost 4-1 to group leaders Brookfield 1. Declan O’Rourke, who is undefeated in the campaign so far, picked up the point for Monkstown with a classy display. The team play C’mont/R’way 3 next Saturday at home at 2 o’clock in what will most likely be a battle to avoid last place. The players will be hoping the fans will be out in full force to ensure their safety.

The 3rd team continued their quest for a playoff spot with a 3-2 win over Templeogue 5. They face group leaders Ashbrook 1 next Saturday at home at 4 o’clock in what promises to be a nail-biter with every match carrying added importance as the team eyes up a place in the knockout stages.

It’s tight at the bottom of section E in class 5. The 4th team lost 3-2 to Co Wicklow 3 meaning that their final match away to Greystones 6 will be an important one. Mark Aherne came in as a sub and did a great job as usual. The other point was won by the doubles partnership of Brian O’Neill and Mark McAllister.

Another victory for the 5th team, this time over St. Mary’s 3 with a 4-1 score line. Colm Egan and Lar Ging both subbed in at second and third singles respectively and cruised to straight sets victories. A win next Saturday away to Glenageary 5 at 4 o’clock will see Brendan Egan’s men reach the playoffs.

The 6th team extracted a win over Templeogue 10 under the lights last Saturday. The pick of the matches was that of doubles partnership Lar Ging and Andrew O’Kelly. After losing the first set they stormed back to win the second set to love. The third set was decided by a tiebreaker which was won by the ‘town to clinch the overall match 3-2.
