News & Events 10th August 2017

Well here we are approaching the highlight of the year….the Club Championships followed by the “At Home”. Greg & Deirdre have worked pretty hard to get the tournament up & running so soon after the Handicaps! We’re all looking forward to two weeks of super tennis!

The link to the Tournament Site will be available from this evening.  A big Thank You to Frank Kane who gave of his expertise at a moment’s notice to Greg with the tournament software! There is a schedule of matches for Sunday starting at 12noon…but don’t worry guys your Men’s morning is safe!

Congratulations to Julie Byrne who this weekend plays for Leinster in the Senior Inter-Pros to be held in Claremorris Co Mayo…..great honour Julie.

CLUB NIGHT:  Club Night tonight will be hosted by guess who??  Jonathan!  Thanks so much Jonathan – you’re a star!  There will be no Club Night for the next 2 weeks so make a big effort to come down this evening.

JUNIORS:  A big week next week for our Juniors who have qualified to play in the Irish Junior Championships in Fitzwilliam – 14 boys/girls have qualified – a very strong representation.  Very best of luck to Daniel (B), Scott, Freya, Theo, Harry, Conor, Jack, Rachel, Daniel (K), Josh, Clara, Sam, Charlie and Sarah Jane. If you’re anywhere near Fitzwilliam from Sunday on you should pop in & you’ll see our Juniors at their best.

Conor (U16) and Josh (U14) have been selected to play for Leinster this weekend, the venue is Rushbrooke in Co Cork. Congrats lads & the best of luck. A great honour for Monkstown to have such a good representation!

On the home front Karen is doing a great job managing the Juniors on a daily basis, thank you to our Senior members who have facilitated the Juniors by playing either at 9am or through lunchtime. Just a reminder to parents that the tennis club is not responsible for any Junior who leaves the club premises.

Au revoir to our Club Champion, Fergus, who heads off to college in South Carolina on Saturday!
