News & Events 12th May 2017

The Summer League is well and truly underway with both Men’s and Ladies teams having played their 1st match. First out of the traps was the Men’s 1st team who secured a 5/0 victory last Friday night with some super tennis. The Men’s 3rd team also had a good win getting 4 points. Our other 3 teams lost pretty tight matches, four more rounds to make up ground! The Ladies also won 2 matches, the 2nd and 3rd teams, well done Ladies..

There is always a Home match on a Friday night and Saturday afternoon for the Men, Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday  nights for the ladies so if you’re free pop down, support the teams and watch some great tennis, nothing like a league match for a competitive edge!

The Ladies Charity League Monday team, ably captained by Aislinn Cullen, have reached the Final of their league and are over the moon! They play their Final on Monday 22nd against Claremont/Railway Union in  Bray tennis Club  @  10am… Very best of luck to Dee Walsh & Aislinn, Lisa Blake & Louise Olliver and Frances Loughrey & Maeve Brady, you can do it!

The 5 Mile League for the Ladies starts next Sunday evening..good luck to both teams.

The Golf Outing was a great success last Thursday in Woodbrook. The winners were a fourball of Ladies! Marie Dee, Micheline Grier, Eileen Kelly and Hilary Gale (Walsh). “The Longest Drive” was won by Paula Crotty and  the winner of “Nearest the Pin” was Robin Craig. Congrats to all!

Thank You to all who reacted so promptly to my letter re outstanding subscriptions, our treasurer was impressed – but would like to see 100% payment by the end of May.

JUNIORS:

Our Junior league teams are competing away at all age levels. The Stars & Stripes Team reached the play off stages, many thanks to Norma & Ruth for organizing them. Our U/18 boys have reached the semi-final of the Leinster League, they play Greystones on Sunday 21st. The U/18 Girls are still involved with one match left, thanks Roisin & Alice. The U/12 boys had a fantastic match against Sutton (the leaders) last Sunday and were just pipped in the final set tiebreak of the last match! The team was Charlie M. & Roy, Scott  & Charlie W. and Richard & Marcus. They all showed great spotrsmanship. Thanks to all the mums & dads ( + 1 Granny!!) who supported the team.

The Dates of the Summer Camps are being finalised this week so will have full details next week for you.

Best of luck to Pat Cowley in the Vets Interpros being held this weekend in Greystones.

It was with great sadness that we learned of the death of Eamonn O’Dwyer, he only joined the club in 2015 and took Leave of Absence last year due to ill health, with the hope of returning to play, sadly it wasn’t to be.  He was a true gentleman, may he Rest in Peace.
