The Championships start on Sat next…the schedule is on the website….best of luck Siobhan & Frank on the big task ahead of you!….don’t worry we’ll all enjoy ourselves.

The Golden Oldies night (Thurs 27th) kindly hosted by Duncan & Emer (Clancy) ably helped by Breege & Mick, always proves to be a great night… aid of CRY…sign up sheet will be on the Notice Board next week….also Brian’s Chilli Night sounds interesting! (Thurs 20th)

Siobhan has put up a sign up sheet for Box matches for the Ladies…you can play either Singles or doubles…or both! sounds a very good idea…deadline is the end of August.

JUNIORS: As I mentioned last week we had 3 Interpros selected to play for Leinster…Sorry I missed mentioning  Fergus (O’Rourke)…who was representing  Connacht!..Congrats! Leinster drew with Ulster in the U/18’s & the U/14’s are being played as we speak.

Shankill Junior Open..we had double winners in both the girls’U/14 & boys U/12!!

North East Junior Open (Bettystown)  U/18  Singles Winner: Fergus O’Rourke

6 of our Juniors..Jack Gannon, Harry Crossan, Gary Kelly, David Keane, Patrick Byrne & Alex Boyne  headed to Irvinestown today to keep up the tradition of Monkstown playing in their open week…Thanks to Catherine Keane & the other mums who travelled with them. Good luck & enjoy guys.

The tournament season ends with the Irish Junior Championships – to be played  in Fitzwilliam starting on Sat next 15th & running for the following week…Monkstown have 21 juniors who have qualified to play in the various events…a huge representation…Well done & also to Stephen their coach…Good Luck! If any of you are in the vicinity of Fitzwilliam over the next week you should pop in’re guaranteed to see the top Juniors in the country play some great tennis.

The Autumn Coaching Programme commences on Monday 14th September. Days & Times are similar to last Term…I’ll detail them in next weeks email.

Karen Mac Kenna continues to organise the juniors on a daily basis for this month…Thanks & well done Karen…..your Pizza tournaments are really popular! …..looking at the Junior activity throughout the summer the future of the club is pretty secure!

Also a reminder that all courts are booked for the championships over the next 2 weeks.
