News & Events 15th February 2018

If you glance at the Notice Board you’ll see the amount of activity that’s going on at the moment, Winter League, Blue & Gold League, Easter Cup and Ladies Morning Charity League. The Winter League teams have two matches left with the Men having a bumper week last week with five teams winning! The Ladies are battling away with less promising results. Men’s Morning this week will be happy to hear there are NO matches at 9.30, but one court is needed at 10am to facilitate an early start to one of the 11am matches.

The Easter Cup starts this Saturday (17th) with 3 courts being required at 11am.

Club Night:   Club Night to night will be hosted by Terry O’Rourke, many thanks Terry.

The Ladies Morning Charity League starts next Monday/Tuesday. Very best of luck to all teams

JUNIORS: Lots of activity on the Junior front with tournaments taking place in Westwood and Carrickmines. The National Junior Spring Matchplays are being held in Westwood with Charlie (U14) and Scott, Sarah & Clara in the U/12 age group. Carrickmines are hosting events in the U/8, U/9, U/10 & U/12 age groups. Monkstown have participants in all age groups, the very best of luck to you all at both venues. Young Scott is travelling to Holland on Sunday to play in The Dutch Bowl tournament at both U/11 & U/12 level, a super experience for you Scott, the very best of luck!

Monkstown are also producing great rugby players! Eoghan Clarke (Clodagh Murray’s son) won his first cap last weekend when he played for Ireland in the U/20’s International v Italy. He had a super game which Ireland won. Gavin Thornbury (Susan’s son) has been selected to play for Connacht v Zebre tomorrow at the Sportsground in Galway, best of luck Gavin!
