News & Events 15th July 2016

The Leagues are over  –  Wimbledon is over   and now it’s time for the serious tennis  the Handicaps produce in Monkstown LTC !

They’re going along nice & smoothly with much effort from Breege & Andrew.

A reminder again that there is no play this evening…with matches to be played on Saturday @ 1 o’clock only.

By the way the Captains’ have asked me to tell you that play will begin @ 7pm  each evening next week…..& please note they want  you to sign in @ 6.50 so play can commence at 7 o’clock sharp!  The 9 o’clock slot remains unchanged.

Thanks to those who volunteered to do the catering & sign in duty this week…..there’s just one slot left on the catering list – Monday next 18th  &  a few slots still to be filled on the Sign in list.

Finals Day is Saturday 23rd  & the Finals are followed by Prize-giving at the annual BBQ…even if you haven’t played in the Handicaps you should try & make it – it always proves to be a most sociable event.    Put your name on the list ASAP.

Just a reminder the deadline for the entry forms for the Championships is Monday 8th August. The forms will be available from next week.

JUNIORS;  A great day was had by all on Handicaps Finals Day last Friday  –  the results are on the Notice Board for all to read.

Thanks to the Junior Committee for organising the catering on the day  &  it was nice to see Mums & Dads down to watch & for the prizegiving. As always thanks to Adrienne for her dedication in running the event.

Please note that the Junior Open calendar & details re-entry are up on the Junior website.

Castleknock was the venue last week & again the Monkstown flag was kept flying!  Josh reached the semis of the u/14 doubles  –  Roy finalist in the u/12  boys singles  –  & Charlie semi finalist in the u/12  doubles…great performance guys!  Greystones is the venue this week – good luck to all!

The Junior Championships start next Monday (18th)  –  with Finals day on Sunday 24th from 12 noon.  There might be a slight delay in court availability because of matches but as always Adrienne will try to facilitate you!

Our Groundsman Arek has gone on his well earned holidays from tomorrow Friday… keep an eye out for any little bit of tidying that might be needed  —  the club will open @ 9 am each morning while Arek is away –  except Saturdays when you early birds come down & the club will be open by 8.30!

Thank you Trish & your gardening Committee – the flowers have never looked more beautiful!

That’s it for this week – the summer is flying by so enjoy it while you can.
