News & Events 17th May 2019

Exciting breaking news! It has just been confirmed by the Leinster Branch Tennis Ireland that Monkstown will host this year’s Senior Interprovincial Championships on the 9th/10th August. It’s the first time that Monkstown has been awarded an Interprovincial Championship and it will give members the chance to watch the very best male and female players from across the four provinces. The top six Male and Female players from Leinster, Connacht, Munster and Ulster will do battle on our courts over those two days. Monkstown Junior members will be on duty as ball boys and girls and we hope to have representation on the courts once the teams are selected in July.

Further details will follow nearer the date. Johnny, our Men’s Captain, who is on the Leinster Council put a lot of effort into getting this prestigious event for Monkstown!

The Summer League is up and running, both men’s and ladies teams gave it their all but struggled just to get the vital winning point! Three Ladies teams won and two of the Men’s teams got a win. Very early days yet so keep battling and good luck for round two. If you’re free on either Friday night/Saturday afternoon (Men) or Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday nights (Ladies), you should pop down and support the teams.
