News & Events 19th October 2017

Next Sunday is Senior League Finals Day in Clontarf LTC – with three Monkstown teams featuring, I must mention here the three other Ladies teams who reached the quarter finals and having battled so hard were just pipped at the post. The details for next Sunday in Clontarf are as follows:-

  • Men’s O/35 play Fitzwilliam 1st at 10.30am. A repeat of a fantastic match played in Monkstown a couple of weeks ago. Very best of luck to the squad of Scott & MickeyMac, Stephen & George, Johnny & Ciaran and Robin & Robert.
  • Ladies 1st play Clontarf 1st @ 10.30. Very best of luck to Gina & Geraldine, Claire & Helen and Anna & Karen. You’ve had some great wins along the way…just one more!
  • Men’s O/55’s play Claremont/Railway Union 1st at 12 noon. Very best of luck Tom & Brian, Declan & Fintan and Liam & Paddy. A super performance lads, plenty of athleticism left in you all!

Why don’t you make a morning of it next Sunday and head to Clontarf to support the teams.

Sunday Brunch sign-up sheet is on the Notice Board, the dates are Sunday’s 5th, 12th & 19th November.

Club Night to night will be hosted by Barbara Liston, weather permitting – be brave and come down for a hit!

The Ladies Morning Charity league continues with all teams battling away. One of the cancelled Charity League matches from last Monday has been rescheduled for Friday 27th at 10.00 am, so three courts will be required. The highlight of next week will be the Halloween Tournament on Wednesday next 25th run by the Ladies Committee. This year the committee are running the event for Charity – the charity being the very worthy Open Spectrum which organises activities and events for children and teenagers on the Autistic Spectrum. N. B. Start Time is 9.30am – entry fee €15.00

JUNIORS: The U/14 Stars & Stripes starts this Saturday – thanks to Mary Collins & Ruth Marchand for organising the teams.  Best of luck to both the boys & girls! Just a reminder there will be NO coaching during the Mid term break – Monday 30th – Sunday 5th November. The Junior Committee are organising a fun/fancy dress Halloween tournament on Tuesday 31st October @ 12 noon. Please sign up by Friday 27th October, should be fun!

LOCK UP DUTY: Many thanks to you guys who volunteer to do lock up duty, but we need lots more volunteers. It’s only 6 days out of 365, so please give it a thought and contact Judy.

Floodlight cards are no longer available from the Texaco garage on Abbey Road. Goggins’ Pub and Hewett’s news agency in Monkstown Village and McCormack’s pub in Mounttown all have a supply of them. Judy also has them in the office.

Regarding parking on the driveway, please don’t park in the turning spot, it causes major congestion. Also when driving up in the dark if you would reduce your headlights to assist blinding players on court no 3!
