News & Events 1st July 2016

The Summer League has come to an end – with what success for Monkstown— 5 Ladies teams & 3 Mens teams reached the playoff stages–a record in itself. The Finals were held last Saturday in Sutton & we had 2 ladies teams competing…the 1st & 6th teams.

The 1st team played Templeogue 1st’s & got the 3 points they needed for a win after some reallly high class tennis. I must mention Kate & Rachel (playing in her 1st summer league campaign) who won all their singles matches & also Caroline who as always showed great team spirit. Team Captain Adrienne had a very strong panel to choose from in Julie B – Caroline – Kate – Rachel – Geraldine – Anna – Ruth – Helen & Amy. Congrats to you all…the team will be greatly strengthened next year in Class 1 with International & former Irish No 1 Gina Niland who has recently joined the club. Welcome Gina!

The 6th team played Sutton 7th’s and also got the 3 points they needed for a win…they were all really chuffed as none of the team had won a League title before!..Breege was due at a wedding but played her match first & arrived at the weeding pretty late…that was the sort of committment team capt. Lynda got from all her team…by the way both Breege & Lynda won all their matches…must be something to do with being a capt.!…Lynda also had a very committed panel who played for her in Lisa  – Miriam – Jacqui B – Johanna – Aoife S – Breege – Aisling – Mandy – Fionnuala & Suzanne…congrats Ladies!
