News & Events 1st November 2018

The floodlight league has reached the Playoff stages, with our Ladies 1st & 2nd teams featuring. The 1st team as winners of their section and the 2nd’s runners up in theirs. The Quarter-finals are scheduled for Tuesday 13th November, so no home matches next Tuesday! The Men’s 1st team play their last match of their campaign tonight and a win will put them top of their section. Their Quarter-final match will be on Monday 12th so again no home matches next Monday! Thanks to all the team captains: Adrienne, Karen, Arlene & Jana for their commitment to their teams throughout the league and on the Men’s side thanks to Stephen & Ciaran for spurring on their teams.

Men’s’ Morning will be slightly disrupted both next Sunday the 4th & Sunday week the 11th for the popular Autumn Tennis tournament. Niall & Denise have asked me to remind you that play will commence at 10.30 am – with refreshments laid on by Geraldine afterwards. Don’t forget your entry fee of €10.00!

Club Night: Club night tonight will be a little different!  The Men’s 1st team have a league match at 7 o’clock – but the host of the night, Ray Kavanagh, insists that club night go ahead, albeit with fewer courts although the match should be over by 8.30. Court 1, 2 and will be free.

Ladies Morning will be back in action next Wednesday – with the Charity league matches recommencing on Monday / Tuesday next. There will be two matches on Monday morning and one on Tuesday.

 

Juniors: It was remarkable to see 72 of our juniors playing in the Halloween tournament, everyone had such fun with lots of Mums (& a few dads!) staying around to watch and chat. A big Thank You to Stephen who organised the draw etc. ably assisted by Adrienne, Karen & Rachael Mullett. Thanks to Mary Kenny & Diane (W) for sorting Pizza for the masses!! A day to remember!

The Junior League has also reached the Playoff stages, with both our U/14 Boys & Girls teams featuring this Saturday as mentioned last week, very best of luck and congrats for reaching this stage. The U/14 Stars & Stripes are featuring this Saturday evening.

Group Coaching will recommence next Monday 5th November, Adrienne is running her 2, 3 & 4 o’clock groups this Saturday, and there will be no other coaching this weekend.

Scott (Jnr) had a super win at the Connacht Junior Indoor championships played in Castlebar last week. He had an emphatic win in the U/12 singles event. Cliona (country member from Connacht) won the U/18 singles event and Sarah reached the final of the U/12 Girls singles. Congrats for keeping the Monkstown flag flying in the West!
