News & Events 23rd February 2017

As we head into the last round of matches in the Winter League would you believe we have three Mens teams topping their respective groups! The second Team Captained by Tom Crotty, the 4th Team captained by Nessan Kelly and the 5th Team captained by Niall O’Carroll. A great position to be in with one match to go lads! On the Ladies side the 5th Team captained by Nicola Roberts is in second place, the 2nd team captained by Anna Gunning, the 3rd team captained by Carol Kelly  and the 7th team captained by Breege Clancy are all in 3rd place – but with good results this week who knows what might happen.  Best of luck to all teams!

A reminder to the Mens Morning that there are NO courts available 9.30 – 12.30 this Sunday (26th).

The Blue & Gold League starts tomorrow Friday 24th & runs for five weeks – matches are played at 7.30 pm but there will be little disruption to members as so few people play on a Friday night. Good Luck to Anne Marie Mc Grath & Joe Byrne & their teams!

The Sunday Brunch signup sheet is now on the Notice Board. It’ll be run over three Sundays – 12th / 19th / 26th March.

CLUB NIGHT: I’m afraid “Storm Doris” has led to the cancellation of Club Night tonight!.

Come Hail – Rain or Shine Joe Gallagher tells me that next Thursday will be a competition Night with the usual bottle of Vino or two to play for – so that’s something to look forward to. By the way the Sign up sheet for volunteering to host Club Night looks very blank!!

The Ladies Morning Charity league starts next Monday and Tuesday (27th / 28th Feb).  Matches are played @ 10 am so there will be a shortage of court availability, full list of court bookings on the notice board.  Best of luck to the Monday teams captained by Noreen Cleary and Aislinn Cullen, and  to the Tuesday teams captained by Carmel Buckley, Emily Kelly and Martina Keevey.

JUNIORS: The Stars & Stripes teams did well last week/end – our U/16 team beat Co. Wicklow with our U/12’s just pipped in a very tight match. Group coaching recommences next Monday 27th Feb.

Both Tom Crotty & Pat Cowley were on the Vets circuit last w/end. The Irish Veterans’ Indoor Championships were played in Belfast. Pat won the O/65 Singles – while Tom was beaten in the semis of the O/55 doubles…congrats to you both.

If you can’t find our Lady Captain over the next two weeks she will be in Nepal! Deirdre is heading there tomorrow for a two week volunteer programme. Very best of luck Deirdre.

Now to our sporting heroes!   The fundraising for Laoise has reached €1,885…a super achievement…let’s get it to €2,000!.
