News & Events 23rd August 2018

Well two weeks ago it was Julie who thrilled us with her fantastic achievement at the ITF Irish Open played in Carrickmines. This week it’s Conor’s turn, he’s reached the Final of the U/16 singles in the Irish Junior Championships being played in Fitzwilliam.
He has also lived up to his No 1 seeding, in both the Boys and the Mixed Doubles, he won the Mixed Doubles this afternoon and reached the Final of Boys Doubles! He plays his Singles tomorrow morning and Doubles in the afternoon. Check the Tennis Ireland website for updates.
Scott jnr. also had a good run in the U/12 Singles reaching the quarter-finals, Charlie (McM) who won the U/14 doubles in Donnybrook last week, was pipped in the quarter-finals of the Doubles event.
Our own Championships are making great inroads with our Captains’ Niall & Denise smiling their way along, so far!! By the way Juniors are welcome to come to the club in the evening to watch the matches – but we would ask parents to keep a watchful eye on them! The sign-up sheet for the “At Home” which will be held in the Royal Irish Yacht Club, is filling up nicely – deadline is Wednesday next the 29th August. Mick and Breege’s Golden Oldies Night is all set to go for next Tuesday 28th. If you can’t make it down to sign up just email Judy, as always it promises to be a lovely night.
