News & Events 27th July 2017

I haven’t seen as much activity in the club from morning until night (actually midnight!!) for a long time, the buzz around the place is just great. The Handicaps are reaching the semi-final stages and there have been some real cliff hangers, with the handicapping proving pretty good, well done Greg & Deirdre!
Remember that the Order of Play for the Semi-finals tomorrow night is 7pm & 8.30. So being Friday evening pop down, have a bite to eat or a glass of wine/beer and enjoy some really competitive tennis!
Finals Day is Saturday, please remember to bring a plate of goodies if can. Just a reminder that the BBQ on that night is booked out, Margaret & Breege have it all sorted, even down to the Table Plan! Prosecco reception @ 7.30 followed by the BBQ @ 8.30 sharp, but before you can enjoy any of this PAYMENT MUST BE MADE TO EITHER MARGARET, BREEGE OR MYSELF BY THIS EVENING> € 30 per head.
Our Captains’ Greg & Deirdre asked me to remind you that the signup sheet for the Senior League is on the Notice Board, the teams will be selected within the next 2 weeks, so get your name up.

Julie Byrne, home from a scholarship in the States, had a great win in the ITF tournament being played in Fitzwilliam this week…well done Julie …..a great feather in your cap!

JUNIORS: Another super Finals day last Friday, this time for the Handicaps. The list of finalists is on the Notice Board, a big Thank you to Adrienne, ably assisted by Anna Schwer, for running the tournament so efficiently. Adrienne would also like me to extend a huge debt of gratitude to the Mums who produced a super BBQ & goodies all afternoon! By the way thank you also to Brian Schwer who cleaned and got the BBQ up and running!
A reminder that there are 3 Tennis/Fun Camps left, next week 31st July – 4th August, Tuesday 8th – 11th August and the last one is from 21st – 25th August. The signup sheets for all 3 Camps are on the Notice Board or you can email details to Judy.
Adrienne finishes her stint as Junior Day Manager tomorrow, many thanks Adrienne from all the Mummy’s and Daddy’s for organising their kids with all the various events over the last 6 weeks. Karren MacKenna is the Junior Day Manager for August.
Two great achievements by Conor & Sarah at the European Youth Olympic Festival being held in Gyor, Hungary. Conor reached the 3rd round in the Tennis event, a fantastic performance Conor. Sarah is taking part in the Athletics event, there were two heats of the 1,500 meters this morning and guess what – Sarah won her heat! The very best of luck in the Final on Saturday Sarah.

The Lost Property is really piling up in the function room, I’ll have to move it in the next week or so. Please check it out.
Everyone is commenting on the beautiful flowers that greet you as you walk around, the one & only Trish Manahan spends hours on end planting, deadheading, watering etc. We owe her a huge debt of gratitude.
