Captains’ Day has come & gone for another year….what a super day all 76 of us had last Saturday!  Breege & Andrew put a huge amount of work into organising the day to make it such a success. The weather – tennis – &  atmosphere was second to none! …not to mention the constant tea / coffee & the delicious goodies which were set out by Emily & Clodagh who did trojan work in the kitchen all afternoon!…their thanks to so many of you who brought such a variety of food.  We have a whisleblower in the tennis club!!…under the guise of Mick Clancy…you played a blinder Mick with your timekeeping for the tennis throughout the afternoon!  Just when we thought we couldn’t eat another thing along came  Dee (Nolan) with her traditional Ice Cream Wafers….Ice cream in the sunshine……what more could you ask for…thanks a mil Dee for your thoughfullness & generosity.

Back to the club, all beautified, for the Drinks reception @ 7.30…followed by a delicious dinner & prizegiving…the prizes were cool.. special thanks to Aiden Fitzgerald Hair Stylist who sponsored the r/up prizes…well done Breege for using your charm there! The night concluded with dancing to some great music.

A big “Thank You” from eveyone,  Breege & Andrew, for hosting a brilliant day..all the effort you put in was much appreciated.

The Summer League is just around the corner….Mens’ matches start on Fri 6th May &  Ladies on Monday  9th May.  Court availability will be very much reduced during the League.

Men…..matches on Fri 7 – 9pm  &  Saturdays  2 – 6pm……all courts will be in use during these times.

Ladies….matches on Mon / Tues / Weds nights  7 – 9pm each night.  Those of you who play on court 1 will not be affected –  but those booked on courts 2 3 4 5 & 6  will have to forfeit their courts.    Speaking of court bookings I was reminded today that there were “No Shows” on courts  4 5 & 6 last night (Wed)  9 – 10pm…I must ask members to cancel their courts 24 hrs in advance, as there is great demand for courts.

The Ladies Morning Charity League has finished with at least 1 team qualifying for the Playoffs!

Congrats to Sarah Jane  & her team (Fionnuala  & Karen …Sarah Jane & Joanna .. Caroline  & Lisa )  who won their section – good luck in the Semis, Ladies! –  to be played on Tues 10th May…venue to be confirmed.

Juniors;  Group coaching will go ahead next Monday (Bank Holiday)

I’ll end on an exciting note!….Congrats & the best of luck to Mickymac who is representing Ireland in the ‘ITF Young Seniors World Championships’  to be held in Croatia from 1st – 6th May…..he heads off in the morning.
