News & Events 5th April 2018

What weather! Despite the freezing, wet time we’re experiencing there’s a fair bit of activity around the club. The Blue & Gold teams play their last matches this Friday with Frank’s Gold Team leading their group and Lar’s Blue Team joint 3rd, so all to play for this week. Best of luck guys!  Brendan’s Easter Cup have no match this Saturday as they prepare for their final match on Saturday week. The Tennis 4 Cancer tournament will be held this Sunday so there will be no court availability for Men’s Morning after 10.30am.

CLUB NIGHT: Club Night tonight will be hosted by Aaron Duffy – many thanks Aaron.

Ladies Morning recommences after the Easter break next Wednesday the 11th, with coaching from Stephen at 9am with.  There will be Charity league matches on both Monday and Tuesday next.

JUNIORS: Despite the miserable weather the Easter camps were a great success.  On the tournament front Charlie had a super win to lift the South of Ireland U/14 title played at Limerick LTC last week. Young Scott won the U/12 Boys singles event in the Brookfield Open and Sarah Jane was just pipped in a marathon final of the U/12 Girls singles. Huge Congrats to all three of you. This week Templeogue is the venue for the Open. Keep the Monkstown flag flying!

Just a reminder that Group Coaching recommences from next Monday the 9th. A Giant Fun Tournament was held yesterday & despite the freezing/wet weather 24 kids played, many thanks to Stephen, Karen & Lisa who organised the tennis and Fionnualla & Diane who produced lovely healthy food afterwards!

A SPECIAL MESSAGE FROM YOUR CAPTAINS’!  TENNIS 4 CANCER – 8th April – as this is a fund raising event, if anyone who has a spare bottle of wine or Christmas gift they would like to donate – we will use them instead of purchasing prizes. Please leave gifts in the office or with us or even bring on the day! Please also feel free to leave a contribution in an envelope marked T4C if you cannot be there for this great cause.

CAPTAINS’ DAY – SATURDAY 21st APRIL – due to the success of the Leinster rugby team we recognise that many members might want to go to the Aviva to support the Boys in Blue for their 3.30 kick off. As a result we have decided to run the Captains’ Day tournament in the morning of the 21st, commencing @ 10.30 am Sharp. Sign-up sheets will be on the Notice Board this weekend. We hope this suits everyone and will enable all those who want to see the Leinster match to get there well in time. Thanks a million from Niall and Denise.

Members who play under lights will be delighted to hear that Al Read electrical will be here on Tuesday/Wednesday next to replace all the Floodlight Lamps, with the result court availability will be very restricted during the day. As there is a Charity League match here on Tuesday all courts will be out of action until at least 12 noon.
