Phoenix Tournament Circuit

Great way for Junior Players to get some tournaments experience and match play!

These tournaments are specifically designed to encourage players with no or little competitive experience to participate in Open Tournaments. The main characteristics are:

  • All players are guaranteed multiple matches
  • The full event is run within a maximum of 3 days
  • Only players with limited competitive experience are eligible to play.
  • Players can only play in their own age group

If your child has not yet played in a tournament, they will need to register for a Tennis Ireland ID here

Phoenix Tournament Circuit – Format

Phase 1 (Round Robins):

  • Round Robin with 3 or 4 players per box.
  • Score: first to 6 games. If score is 5-5 last game is played as a standard tie-break (to 7 points,

2 points difference to win the game)

  • Players play all their matches within a period of 2 & ½ hours maximum.
  • All players qualify to play in Phase 2.

Phase 2 (Knock-Out):
· First and second player in each round robin box progress into a GOLD knock-out draw

  • All other players go into a SILVER knock-out draw
  • Scoring: best of three sets with champion’s tie-break instead of a standard third tie-break set.
