Club Championships, National Junior Championships, Golden Oldies Night

Well our Club Championships are well and truly underway. Thanks to the ladies / girls who have been producing delicious food each evening and also to Alex in the Bar for looking after our thirst! Carmel & Johnny are playing a blinder with scheduling & making everyone feel welcome. A busy busy w/end ahead so no more "unavailabilty" please! Also I have quite a list of unpaid entries so please pay whoever is on duty when you're scheduled to play..Thanks!
The Tables for the At Home have nearly all been snapped up, but if you haven't booked a table and would like to go, please sign up on the sheet provided on the notice board.

The other main social event linked with the Championships is of course the Golden Oldies night hosted by Mick & Breege Clancy in aid of their cherished charity CRY. Tuesday next is the date @ 8pm - contribution €25.00 If you can't make it down to sign up just email me & I will do so for you.

Just a reminder there is NO club night tonight!

Newsflash from Noreen Cleary of the Ladies Morning Committee - to say that Ladies Morning will recommence on Wednesday 4th September @ 10am. The Volunteer sheet is now up on the board so have a glance at it and offer to do a morning. Thanks!

JUNIORS: Our Juniors sure are enjoying their last full week before the dreaded word School!!
A big Thank You to Stephen, Adrienne & Karen who between them ran Camps & supervised allowing our Juniors have a super summer in the tennis club. Also thanks to the Junior assistants who were of great help throughout the summer.
I was in Hewett's newsagent in Monkstown the other day and it was nice to hear from Thelma (the Owner) how well behaved the kids from the tennis club are when they come into the shop!

Term 1 of Group Coaching will start week beginning Monday 9th September. Full details will be on the notice board and will also be in next week’s Snippets.

The Irish Junior Championships is the big event on the tennis calendar this week. Monkstown were well represented with some geat results so far. We have two finalists - Conor Gannon plays in the U/18 mixed Final - and Charlie Mc Morrow plays in the U/14 mixed final tomorrow Friday. Both matches are scheduled for 4pm, so do make an effort to support them in their great effort to win a National title. As I write Conor is playing in the 1/4 finals of the U/18 Singles - as is young Scott Barron playing in the 1/4 finals of the U/12 singles. Conor is also in the semis of the U/18 doubles to be played tomorrow....hope you have some energy left for the club Championships Conor!!. Very best of luck to you all...we sure are proud of you!

I'm in despair about the Lost Property....still so much unclaimed....will all be removed over the w/end!

Hope you all come down to the club at some stage over the next week if you're not playing in the championships and enjoy the tennis and atmosphere ....helped by a cuppa or glass of wine / beer!

Enjoy your last few carefree days before the old routine sets in again!
