Club Champs, Senior League, Golden Oldies Night & Junior Champs

Hi Folks!
What a weekend of high class tennis we witnessed last Fri / Sat. Thanks to everyone who made it all possible and to all our members who gave such great support to the event. Johnny's summary on the website covers it to our own special two weeks of high class tennis with the Club Championships beginning this weekend! As always it should be 2 weeks of great tennis with a nice social side to it.

The draws and w/end schedule will be available on the website this evening. Matches will be played on Sat / Sun between 11am - 4pm ( 3pm Sunday to allow for hurling enthusiasts to watch the big match!) As many players entered by email / verbally there are quite a few OUTSTANDING ENTRY FEES!...PLEASE BRING MONEY WITH YOU AT 1st SCHEDULED MATCH. Thanks a mil. Best of luck to Carmel & Johnny for a very enjoyable 2 weeks!

Details of the AT HOME - Saturday 31st August in the George Yacht Club - will be posted on the Notice board next week.

Another special tradition of the Championships is the "Golden Oldies Night" in aid of CRY - hosted by Mick & Breege Clancy. Sign up Sheet will be on the Notice board early next week.... so keep an eye out for it as it fills up very quickly for this very popular evening.

Thanks to all the volunteers who have signed up for sign in / catering duty....still a few slots left to be filled!
The Senior League teams have been selected and will be posted on the notice board shortly.
Because of scheduled matches on Sat / Sun - Mens' morning & the regulars who play on Sat morning will have their games disrupted slightly with courts being required from 11am....apologies for any inconvenience but I guess you're all playing in the Championships!

CLUB NIGHT: Club night tonight will be hosted by Jane O'Rourke...many thanks Jane...take note that there'll be no club night for the next two weeks - so do pop down & enjoy a lovely evening.

JUNIORS: The last camp of the Summer is Adrienne's next week...Karen will be here for supervised tennis for the next 2 weeks.

The season ends with the Irish Junior Championships being held next week in Fitzwilliam... as Conor (Gannon) was unavailable for selection for the Interpros (he was in Portugal playing in his last event on the circuit) we have the opportunity to see him play in Fitz - and "breaking news"....he's entered the Mens’ singles in the club Championships!! Young Scott Barron (seeded No 1 in the U/12 singles), Theo Claffey, Isobel Craig, Sam & Clara Mc Gannon and Charlie Mc Morrow have all qualified to play...very best of luck to you all as you keep the Monkstown flag do make an effort & support these great young players by popping into Fitz during next week.

When clearing the clubhouse before the Interpros I gathered THREE black bags of Lost Property! will be on the table under the TV from today until Tuesday next....then that's it .. it'll be packed away for Gabriel Grier to take to the underpriviledged little kiddies in South Africa.

I hope you've all been enjoying our fab new really is fantastic...a huge Thank You to both Lucy O'Reilly & Helen Lane who put in no end of work in producing it.

Congratulations to all our Boys & Girls who received their Leaving Cert results yesterday..... you all seem to have done extremely well...we're all thrilled & relieved for you all....and your Mummys & Daddys! Very best of luck for your future....but do keep playing tennis!

Here's to a great 2 weeks of tennis....and even if you haven't entered do come down, have a cuppa or glass of wine & watch the creme de la creme of our players!
