DAVIS CUP UPDATE FROM STEPHEN
Well folks, the countdown is almost over. Ireland will play our first home Davis Cup tie in nine years this weekend against a very strong Austrian team in Limerick.
A sizable Monkstown contingent will be on hand to support our own Conor Gannon, who plays a Davis Cup match in Ireland for the first time.
It has been a privilege to watch Conor develop as a player and a person over the past 15 years and I'm sure I speak on behalf of all Monkstown members in conveying how proud we are of him and how happy we are for his parents Dave and Karen and his brothers Jack and Ben.
We also wish Conor Niland, one of Ireland's greatest tennis figures, the very best of luck as Non-Playing Captain. To have two Monkstown members involved in such an important weekend for Irish tennis is quite special. We also wish Bryan O’Neill MLTC Trustee all the best as one of the selected line umpires for this weekend!
They have a big task ahead of them! Included in the Austrian squad is the 2020 US Open champion and former World Number 3, Dominic Thiem. He'll be joined by Sebastien Ofner, the current World Number 40. The bigger they are, the harder they fall!
Looking forward to seeing members of the Monkstown family there on Saturday and Sunday.

BANK HOLIDAY WEEKEND
Please note there will be NO COACHING this Sat, Sun, Mon due to the Bank Holiday.
SUBS PAYMENTS
We would like to thank the members who have paid their subs and we remind those yet to pay that the deadline for payment is 16th February 24. The instalment payment option is now closed and members will be required to pay their full subscription which is payable by Easy Payments or Bank Transfer.

BLUE & GOLD - Please sign up by Sunday 4th Feb (midnight)
This is a mixed doubles tournament which commences on Friday 23rd February and runs for a period of 5 weeks. MLTC have entered two teams in this tournament which involves matches against other local clubs and will be held on Friday evenings.
Teams will comprise various standards from Class 3/4 to non- league. Priority for team places will be given to members who are not currently on winter league teams.

WINTER LEAGUE LADIES WINTER LEAGUE
Ladies winter league has got off to a strong start. Most matches in Week 1 were postponed due to Storm Isha and had to be rearranged for later in the week when we recorded 4 wins (one match yet to play).
In Week 2, played last Sunday, we recorded 6 wins out of 8 matches - well done to all players. We have a break this weekend with the remaining matches taking place on 11th, 18th and 25th of February.
LADIES MORNING Valentine’s Tournament 7th Feb
Hold on to your rackets the Valentines Tournament is on next Wednesday 7th Feb from 10-12.
The sign-up sheet is up on the notice board and closing date for entry is Monday 5th February.
A €10 entry fee will be payable on the day by cash or Revolut.
If you can’t make it to the club to sign up, please don’t hesitate to contact one of the Ladies Committee members.

THURSDAY - CLUB NIGHT
Club night will take place this evening, so pop down any time between 8pm to 10pm - Stephen will be in attendance at 8pm to get things started!
MEN’S MORNING – Sunday Mornings
Men’s morning will be from 9am to 11am this Sunday, followed by Winter League. Come for a game and a cuppa!
MLTC MENS AND LADIES CLUB TENNIS GEAR
We will be placing a second order for MLTC CLUB GEAR this month. The gear has proven to be very popular with many members and has attracted positive comments from visiting clubs.
If you would like to be included in the second order, please e-mail Lorraine Ryan at legan1413@icloud.com before 15th February.
The items include:
-Ladies tennis singlet
-Ladies/Men's tennis tee shirts
-Ladies / Men's hoodies
-Ladies and Men's rain resistant breathable jackets
The items are navy in colour with a white trim and are branded with the MLTC logo in dark yellow type. Price lists are on the club noticeboard and in the changing rooms.
