 NEWSFLASH"  FROM    STEPHEN

Our own Davis Cup hero, Conor Gannon, is playing a league match for 

Monkstown , in Monkstown, tomorrow Friday 16th @ 7pm

Having just graduated from the University of Memphis and now about to 

embark on a professional career, this is a rare opportunity to see Conor on 

our own courts in competitive action.

 Hope to see many of you there!

PARENT & CHILD TOURNAMENT - sign up now

The very popular Parent & Child Tournament takes place on Monday 2nd, 12 - 3 pm.  

This is for all children (age 7+)

If a parent can't play, a sibling, aunt, uncle, grandparent - any older family member/friend can take the place of the parent!

Cost is €20 limit per family.

 All proceeds will go to the very worthy charity Tennis4Cancer.

Please sign up now on Easy Payments. Entries will close on Friday the 30th  May.

 Please bring a 'Plate' for sharing - sandwiches, crisps, mini bars, buns, etc - All gladly accepted! We also need volunteers to man the kitchen during the tournament - please let one of the Junior Committee know via the Junior WhatsApp groups.

NEW MEMBER’S DAY

We held a new members day to help our new members navigate the various events in the club. Feedback from the attendees was very strong and it is our intention to run this on an annual basis.

 

SUMMER LEAGUE – Ladies

This is the first week of Summer League with many games played over the 3 days with mixed results, all to play for. The first week of league coaching has taken place both singles and doubles.

 

SUMMER LEAGUE – Men

Summer league matches started last weekend with a strong start.  There are three home fixtures this weekend for the Men’s team:

·         1st team – home to Naas at 7pm Friday 16th

·         2nd team – away to Greystones at 7.30pm Friday 16th

·         3rd team – home to Rathgar at 2pm Saturday 17th

·         4th team - home to Kilternan at 4pm Saturday 17th

 We are using the Men’s League WhatsApp group for regular updates, so if anyone wants to join this group, please contact Dermot Hayes directly.

Come out to support our Men’s league teams on Friday evening (from 7pm) or from 2pm on Saturday !

  

SPRING BOX CHALLENGES – Ladies

The spring box challenge is finished with the majority of games being played, despite the slow start.  Thanks to those who completed the WhatsApp survey, and it appears unanimous, we will be planning 2 box challenges a year, next one will be run over November/December.

There are a few prizes for the box winners in the office, remember to collect them 

 

 

 LADIES MORNING

Ladies morning will be hosted by Sarah Jane Mullett and Breege Clancy starting at 10am to 12.

We entered 5 teams in the Charity League and  the players will join us to celebrate the end of the league, playing 

tennis and afterwards for tea coffee cake and chat. 

MEN’S MORNING – Sunday Mornings

Mens morning will be on at the usual time of 10am - 12 so do come along for a hit!

 

CLUB NIGHT – Thursday Evenings

Club night will be on tonight!  Pop down any time between 8pm and 10pm for a social game and Stephen will give some coaching support at the beginning of the evening. This is an opportunity to meet and play with members of varying standards and is a relaxed evening of tennis.

 

CAPTAINS DAY – May 11th  “ITALIA 25”

On behalf of Dermot and Colette we would like to thank everyone for their support on Captains Day, even the weather behaved itself in the end.  Our sincere that to the events team Aoife, Bronwyn, Evelyn, Carole, Anne, Genevieve, Elaine, and Emily for their amazing work in preparing and managing the day. We hope everyone enjoyed themselves and we appreciate all the positive feedback we received.
